Compliance with Principles of Business Conduct

IEEE has been built based on the excellence of its technical information and member and customer service. IEEE insists not only on compliance with the Principles of Business Conduct when dealing with others, but on the proper handling of actual or apparent conflicts of interest.

IEEE's intent is to:

  • make it clear that IEEE requires fair dealings with all involved parties;
  • avoid conflicts of interest;
  • maintain confidentiality of information entrusted to IEEE;
  • assure that IEEE's assets are used only for IEEE purposes;
  • protect ownership of assets developed under IEEE's initiatives;
  • provide full disclosure of IEEE's financial transactions in its reports to volunteers and management;
  • comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

The IEEE Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and management team value your input. For this reason, IEEE has selected EthicsPoint, an independent company and market leader for the receipt and resolution of anonymous reports of impropriety, to provide a confidential method to hear your suggestions, concerns or reports of suspected misconduct.

The information you provide will be sent to IEEE by EthicsPoint on an entirely confidential and anonymous basis. IEEE guarantees that your comments will be heard.

IEEE appreciates your support and cooperation to ensure that all conduct meets the highest ethical standards.

To Make a Report

You may use either of the following two methods to submit a report:

  • dial toll-free, within the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Canada: +1 888 359 6323
  • or
  • select the "Make a Report" link at the top of this Web page.

After you complete your report, you will be assigned a unique code called a "report key." Write down your report key and password and keep them in a safe place. After 5-6 business days, use your report key and password to check your report for feedback or questions.

EthicsPoint is NOT a 911 or Emergency Service:

Do not use this site to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. Reports submitted through this service may not receive an immediate response. If you require emergency assistance, please contact your local authorities.

EthicsPoint is also not for reporting IEEE member violations of the IEEE Code of Ethics:

Reporting of noncompliance with the Code of Ethics is made to the IEEE Ethics and Member Conduct Committee (EMCC), which institutes proceedings, if it determines, after a preliminary investigation, that there is a reasonable basis for believing that the allegations in the complaint can be proven and that they constitute cause for expulsion, suspension, or censure of the member/volunteer’s privileges.
