Accounting and Auditing Matters
The unethical systematic recording and analysis of the business and financial transactions associated with generally accepted accounting practices. (Examples include: misstatement of revenues, misstatement of expenses, misstatement of assets, misapplications of GAAP principles, wrongful transactions.)
Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest is defined as a situation in which a person, such as a public official, an employee, or a professional, has a private or personal interest sufficient to appear to influence the objective exercise of their official duties. (Examples include: inappropriate vendor relations, bribery, misuse of confidential information, inappropriate relations with partners, donors or beneficiaries). Violations of WRC's Conflict of Interest Policy should be reported under this category.
Disclosure of Confidential Information
Unauthorized and unlawful disclosure of corporately owned intellectual property or trade secrets, as well as employee, donor or partner (including potential donor/partner) information, development, fundraising and other corporate data bases, fundraising/development plans, business proposals and strategies.
Discrimination
Discrimination based on legally-protected characteristic including, but not limited to: race (including traits historically associated with race, such as hair type/texture or protective hairstyle), color, religion, sex/gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), gender identity or expression, creed, marital or partnership or familial status, caregiver status, sexual or reproductive health decisions, sexual orientation, national origin, alienage, citizenship, ancestry, age, status as a victim of domestic violence, sex offenses or stalking, political activities, current or former membership or service in the U.S. Armed Forces or a state military unit, veteran status, unemployed status, disability, genetic information or predisposing characteristics, or any other characteristic protected by law
Donor Stewardship
Funds directed to the organization have not been handled with the truthfulness or not used in accordance with the donor's intentions and wishes. Failure to provide due care with respect to the donor, and/or donation. Injury to the public trust.
Falsification of Contracts, Reports or Records
Falsification of records consists of altering, fabricating, falsifying, or forging all or any part of a document, contract or record for the purpose of gaining an advantage, or misrepresenting the value of the document, contract or record.
Fraud, Financial Misconduct, Theft
Violation of Fiscal Polices, anti-fraud and anti-corruption policies (including those listed in Employee Manual), the act of stealing; specifically: the felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.
Harassment
Any form of harassment including violations of the Code of Conduct, Child and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding Policy and Employee Handbook.
Misconduct or Inappropriate Behavior
Intentional wrongdoing; specifically: deliberate violation of a law or standard.
Safety
Failure of meeting requirements needed to perform all duties in a secure environment. Potential areas of harm. (Examples include: environmental damage, OSHA, EPA, supervisor directive, poor housekeeping). Violence is an expression of the intention to inflict evil, injury, or damage to a person or their property. (Examples include: direct, veiled, conditional, violence)
Violation of Policy
Willful or innocent actions that are in direct violation of company policy, procedures, Employee Handbook, and/or implied contractual responsibilities. This would include violations that are not specifically listed elsewhere.
