Our commitment
Holding ourselves to the highest standard of integrity plays a critical role in achieving our purpose: financial security for Canadians and our communities. Before we can help Canadians build their financial strength and security, we must build their trust in our organization. And that starts by acting honestly, respectfully, and fairly in all situations.
What is the Speak Up Hotline?
It is a confidential channel through which both Co-operators employees, contractors and external parties can ask questions and raise concerns about actions that violate our values, policies, and laws, including harassment, fraud, discrimination, conflicts of interest, and non-compliance.
Who administers the Speak Up Hotline?
The Speak Up Hotline is administered by an independent company (NAVEX), is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can accommodate calls in more than 75 languages. You can contact the Speak Up Hotline(EthicsPoint) anonymously by phone or through the web.
Who else can I speak to?
The Co-operators group of companies encourages speaking up to the channel you are most comfortable, such as your leader, another member of leadership, a relevant supporting function such as Legal or HR, or any member of Ethics and Compliance.
What happens after I contact the Speak Up Hotline?
Once you submit a question or concern via phone or web, you will receive a report key and password which can be used to follow up on your submission. Then, an electronic summary is sent to our Co-operators Ethics Office for review and to determine further action.
What is Co-operators stance on retaliation?
Retaliation can take many forms, such as unfair dismissal, bullying or derogatory comments, denial of training, promotions, or mentoring opportunities. If you believe that you or someone else is facing retaliation for speaking up, you should contact your leader or raise a concern using the Speak Up Hotline.
We take all claims of retaliation seriously and investigate all reported retaliation thoroughly. Acts of retaliation are considered acts of misconduct, which, if substantiated, could result in corrective action, up to and including termination of your employment, appointment, or contract, as applicable.
Are reports to the Speak Up Hotline secure and confidential?
The Co-operators group of companies uses NAVEX's EthicsPoint case management application to support the administration of the Speak Up Hotline. EthicsPoint is hosted on NAVEX's secure servers and is not part of any Co-operators website or intranet. All information collected through a report or during an investigation will remain confidential, except as necessary to conduct a fair investigation and to take corrective or remedial action, and except where disclosure is required by law.
