Our pledge: Integrity, openness, and responsiveness

Winston Churchill said, “The price of greatness is responsibility.”

West Virginia University bears weighty responsibilities—educating tomorrow’s leaders, generating new knowledge to benefit our society, and acting as a steward for resources entrusted to us. In fulfilling these responsibilities, all of us are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity.

To meet these standards, we strive to create an atmosphere of openness. Employees and others who have concerns about ethical issues are encouraged to discuss their concerns with supervisors or other appropriate University officials. For those who wish to maintain anonymity while reporting concerns, we have established this EthicsLine.

The University will respond to concerns quickly and thoroughly, and no one will ever face reprisals for making good-faith reports about possible ethical violations.

For 139 years, WVU has built a tradition of excellence and integrity. All of us who care about the University share the responsibility for maintaining that tradition for future generations.
