L.A. Care Health Plan (Local Initiative Health Authority of Los Angeles County) is a public entity and community-accountable health plan serving the residents of Los Angeles County through a variety of programs including Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids and Medicare Advantage HMO. We have established the Compliance Helpline so that our employees and customers can report suspected cases to our Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Department either via our toll-free phone number listed below or this Web Portal.
The Compliance Helpline is to be used as a communication channel for reporting compliance concerns, violations of policies and procedures as well as fraud, waste and abuse issues, not general Human Resources issues. It can be used for Human Resources concerns that cannot be comfortably addressed through the normal channels or methods of communication. People should feel free to use the helpline to report suspected criminal activity and illegal or unethical conduct relating to the organization.
L.A. Care members who need a new I.D. card, or help with their benefits or with coordinating their health plan services should contact our Member Services Department at 1-888-839-9909.
Helpline reporting may be conducted anonymously or callers may identify themselves. If you choose to remain anonymous, please understand that L.A. Care may not be able to complete an investigation. Therefore, we urge you to include your name, member I.D. number (if any), and a telephone number where we can reach you. That way you can be assured that we will be able to help you. Reports will be generated by our vendor and sent to the Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Department within 24 hours of receipt of a report.
Investigators for the Compliance Helpline will act with discretion and integrity in assuring that information received is evaluated in a reasonable and proper manner. All information received will be treated as confidential to the fullest extent practical or allowed by law.
Pursuant to the L. A. Care Code of Conduct, no disciplinary action or other form of retaliation or revenge will be taken against any employee or other person who reports in "good faith" a perceived issue, problem, concern or violation. The "good faith" requirement means that an employee actually believes or perceives the issue or problem to be true. Reporting does not protect individuals from disciplinary action regarding their own inappropriate performance or conduct.
If you have any questions on the use of this Compliance Helpline, please contact the Compliance Officer at (213) 694-1250 x4292.
Our goal is to assure and enhance the integrity, people, processes, and assets needed by all stakeholders of L.A. Care Health Plan.
We believe that L.A. Care Health Plan's viability and integrity depend on the protection of our critical assets, including our people, physical assets, and our information. We also believe that our communication, internal controls, and processes must constantly adapt to the changing needs and objectives of the company as well as to the changing marketplace.
