A Letter From Cardinal Sean O’Malley:

The Archdiocese of Boston has a firm commitment to financial transparency and fiscal responsibility. In recent years we have strengthened this commitment in a variety of ways, including publishing annual reports, requiring parish audits, and undergoing a consultative budget process. We have also created numerous policies and procedures and provided training opportunities to enable our clergy and parish staffs to be better stewards of our financial resources.

As an additional component of our commitment to good stewardship, the Archdiocese provides a confidential method of reporting suspected ethics violations, financial improprieties, and other violations of the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct. Through an independent third-party organization, EthicsPoint, individuals are able to confidentially report their concerns about situations arising in Central Ministries, parishes and schools, and other related entities under Archdiocesan oversight. These reports are then reviewed by the Audit Committee of the Finance Council who will make a decision regarding any necessary actions that may need to be taken to best address a given situation.

Reports may be filed with EthicsPoint either via the internet using the links in the box below this letter or via one of EthicsPoint’s trained specialists at 1-866-491-5283.

I pray that this may remind us all of our duty to be good stewards of the gifts that God has given us.

I remain
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM, Cap.
Archbishop of Boston
