Our Commitment

Washington Street Foundation provides a comprehensive program which includes long-term mentoring and financial assistance to students with outstanding potential, needing a foundation of support to reach that potential. We choose students that can make a difference in this world given the opportunity.

The quality of our individual mentors provides the backbone of our program. The caring adults selected represent truly outstanding models for the children they guide. By sensitively pairing each mentor with a student, the harmonious match of child and adult ensures the likelihood of success in their relationship.

Washington Street Foundation chooses carefully each mentor based on a variety of factors. Mentors are interviewed, background checked and drug tested. Then they are required to complete an initial mentoring class and continuing training.

Sexual Molestation Prevention Policy

In general, molestation means persistent and unwelcome conduct or actions. If a mentor, student or parent feel uncomfortable with any part of the relationship. A mentor, student or parent may terminate that relationship at any time by contacting the Washington Street Foundation office.

A mentor, student or parent may also give an anonymous and confidential account of a grievance, suggestion, concern or report misconduct by contacting a third party Hotline/Case Management Solutions company, EthicsPoint. The information provided will be sent to us by EthicsPoint on a totally confidential and anonymous basis. With the guarantee that all comments will be heard.

Training will also be provided to all mentors and information given to all parents annually.
