RISD

RISD is committed to operating lawfully, ethically, and professionally in everything it does and accordingly expects its faculty and staff to perform their duties in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, college policies and procedures, and high ethical standards. When we fail to meet these standards, we want to address and correct it.

Ordinarily, the best and most effective means of addressing such failures is through normal lines of communication. Anyone who believes that a RISD employee has engaged in illegal or unethical conduct may – and should – report that belief to his or her supervisor and/or any of the following: the President, the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Vice President for Human Resources, the General Counsel, the Director of Risk and Compliance, the Controller, or the college official with oversight responsibility for the relevant issue.

Retaliation against anyone who makes good faith reports of such suspected wrongdoing is prohibited. Nevertheless, RISD recognizes that people with knowledge of illegal or unethical conduct may sometimes still be reluctant to come forward. Accordingly, like many other colleges and universities, RISD has selected EthicsPoint to provide a simple way to make such reports anonymously and confidentially. You may file a report on this site or by calling EthicsPoint’s toll-free number: 866-877-5386. EthicsPoint will alert RISD to your report, but will not disclose your identity unless you authorize it to do so.

While RISD will attempt to address all reports received through EthicsPoint, please know that it is usually more difficult, and sometimes impossible, to investigate and resolve anonymous allegations properly. Regardless, RISD will provide the reporter a response through EthicsPoint.

Please also know that the EthicsPoint tool is intended to be used solely with respect to suspected illegal and unethical activity, such as fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation, conflict of interest, noncompliance with federal grant and contract requirements, violation of health and safety laws, and discrimination. It is not an appropriate mechanism for reporting other matters, such as interpersonal conflicts, routine employment grievances, grade and other academic grievances, and disputes over matters of policy. Other, established college channels should be used to report such matters.

EthicsPoint is NOT a 911 or Emergency Service:
Do not use this site to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. Reports submitted through this service may not receive an immediate response. If you require emergency assistance, please contact your local authorities.

Please note that both the Whistleblower Hotline and the online reporting system are hosted exclusively by EthicsPoint.
