Rush is an organization with a strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and respect in the clinical and academic settings. Rush is committed to maintaining an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. Rush wants you to feel comfortable in approaching your supervisor/management or faculty/college administrator with questions and concerns including instances where you believe violations of standards, policies, or inappropriate behavior may have occurred.

To encourage and support reporting of issues or concerns by our employees, students, patients, vendors and others, Rush has established phone and Internet-based reporting Hotline services. When filing a report, you do not have to give your name or any other identifying information. Rush is committed to providing an environment where individuals feel comfortable discussing any issues that don’t feel right - no matter how big or small - and where people can safely and confidentially come forward to identify serious concerns.

Rush takes all reports very seriously and Rush will look into each report and follow-up when further action is appropriate. Rush strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual for reporting mistreatment, inappropriate behavior, suspected policy and procedure violations, or illegal activity. Examples of issues that can be addressed through these phone or Internet reporting services include:

  • Misuse of company resources
  • Patient care and patient rights
  • Physician relations
  • Research
  • Workplace safety
  • Accounting and financial
  • Compliance with laws and standards
  • Confidentiality
  • Fraud and theft
  • Gifts and donations
  • Harassment and inappropriate behavior
  • Mistreatment, incivility and disrespectful acts

Reports are received by the Rush Corporate Compliance Department which coordinates the investigation of all reported matters jointly with other responsible departments, such as Human Resources or Rush University. Response reports are then provided back to the individual who notified the Hotline.

Rush phone and Internet reporting Hotline services are hosted by an outside vendor called Navex/Ethicspoint. Ethicspoint trained operators receive and document phone and online reports to Rush 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When reporting a potential issue, please be prepared to provide detailed information. Without enough information it may not be possible to properly investigate the issue.

The Rush phone and Internet reporting Hotline are NOT 911 Emergency Services. Do not use this site to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. If you require emergency assistance, please contact 911 or if there is a security threat notify Rush Security Services at (312) 942-5678.
