Q. Why do we have an Ethics and Compliance Helpline?

We believe that you are our most important asset in ensuring that that we are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We want to provide you with the ability to contact us 24 hours a day, seven days a weeks in your local language. Violation of laws, compliance requirements, and company policies is unacceptable at any level of our company. Your input is imperative to help us protect our company’s reputation and financial strength.

Q. Does management really want me to report?

We certainly do. In fact, you are individually responsible for promptly reporting any real or perceived violations of the law or departure from our policies. You know what is going on in our company - both good and bad. You may have initial knowledge of an activity that may be cause for concern. Your reporting can minimize the potential negative impact on the company and our people. You also may help identify issues that can improve our corporate culture and performance.

Q. Why should I report what I know? What’s in it for me?

We all have the right to work in a positive environment. You are accountable for acting in an ethical manner and letting the appropriate people know if someone is not acting appropriately. By working together, we ensure that we maintain a healthy and productive environment and achieve our results with integrity.

Q. If I see a violation, can I report it to my manager, to human resources, or appropriate functional manager?

You certainly may. We encourage employees, as a first step, to seek out local management or resources for assistance in handling their inquiry. Alternative contacts, including the Ethics and Compliance Helpline, are available to employees. Refer to the “How to Report Issues” section on the home page of this site.

Q. May I report utilizing either the Internet or the telephone?

Yes, you may. By giving you choices, the Ethics and Compliance Helpline helps ensure that our employees can seek advice or raise an ethics or compliance concern in the manner most comfortable and convenient for them.

Q. If I report an issue online, can you identify me through my IP address?

The Ethics and Compliance Helpline system we use through our third party vendor EthicsPoint® strips away IP addresses so anonymity is maintained.

Q. Where do these reports go? Who can access them?

Reports are entered directly into the Ethics and Compliance Helpline secure server to prevent any possible breach in security. These reports are only available to specific individuals within our company who are charged with evaluating the issue(s) raised by your report.

Q. Can I still file a report if I don’t have access to the Internet?

You can file an Ethics and Compliance Helpline report from any computer that can access the Internet. You can file from home. Many public locations, including the public library, have Internet-connected computers. If you don’t have access or are uncomfortable using a computer, you can call the toll-free Ethics and Compliance Helpline that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Refer to the “Make a Report” section on the home page of this site.

Q. Is the telephone Ethics & Compliance Helpline system confidential and anonymous too?

Yes. You will be asked to provide the same information that you would provide in an internet based report and an interviewer will type your responses into the Ethics and Compliance Helpline system. These reports have the same security and confidentiality measures applied to them as the Internet reports.

Q. What if I remember something important after I file the report? Or what if the company has further questions for me?

When you file a report at the Ethics and Compliance Helpline you receive a unique user name and are asked to choose a password. You can return to the Ethics and Compliance Helpline system again either by Internet or telephone and access the original report to add further information that would help resolve the open issues or answer questions posed by our company representative.

EthicsPoint® is our third party vendor providing a comprehensive Internet and telephone-based reporting tool that assists management and employees to work together to address complaints regarding ethics and compliance concerns.
