Our Commitment
It is The University of Kansas Heath System’s vision to lead the nation in caring, healing, teaching and discovering. As a premier academic medical center, we are deeply committed to maintaining high ethical standards in every aspect of our business in order to better enhance the health and wellness of the individuals, families and communities we serve.
Our Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (The Code), is intended to promote an overall culture of ethical and honest behavior, which is fundamental to facilitating compliance with the laws, rules and regulations that affect the health system and fosters our patients’ and the community’s confidence in our integrity.
The University of Kansas Health System is committed to an environment where open and honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. You may report potential violations to your supervisor, through the Compliance and Privacy Helpline, at ComplianceResource@kumc.edu or directly to the Chief Compliance and Internal Audit Officer. When you report an action, you may do so anonymously, although please remember this may limit our ability to investigate the matter. If you do identify yourself, your confidentiality will be protected to the fullest extent possible, consistent with the law and good business practices.
In situations where your name or reporting cannot remain confidential you are protected against retaliation and retribution. As a matter of health system policy, no one who reports a suspected violation will be disciplined or subjected to retaliatory action as a result of making a report in good faith. Any retaliation against a health system team member who makes a report in good faith through the appropriate channels identified in The Code is expressly prohibited and subject to discipline.
All reports of violations or suspected violations of The Code will be promptly investigated.
This helpline is not intended for reports of critical care incidents, safety incidents, or patient care concerns. Employees with these concerns should report through the appropriate internal event reporting system.
