Our Commitment

The American Political Science Association (APSA) is committed to providing a safe and welcoming conference environment for all participants, regardless of actual or perceived gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, age, or religion. “Participant” in this policy refers to anyone present at APSA meetings, workshops or events, including staff, contractors, vendors, exhibitors, venue staff, APSA members, and all other attendees.

Commitment to Political Scientists

APSA is an organization with strong values of respect, responsibility and integrity. Our APSA Guide to Professional Ethics contains guidelines for conducting business with the highest standards of ethics. The ethics guide is an authoritative statement of ethical principles for political scientists.

APSA is also committed to providing a safe and welcoming conference environment for all participants, regardless of actual or perceived gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, age, or religion. “Participant” in this policy refers to anyone present at APSA meetings, including staff, contractors, vendors, exhibitors, venue staff, APSA members, and all other attendees. The APSA Anti-Harassment Policy for the Annual Meeting outlines expectations for all those who attend or participate in the APSA meetings.

Commitment to Staff

APSA is also committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. We want you to feel comfortable in approaching your supervisor or management in instances where you believe violations of policies or standards have occurred. You are encouraged to submit reports relating to violations stated in our APSA Staff Handbook and Sexual Harassment Policy as well as asking for guidance related to policies and procedures and providing positive suggestions and stories.
