Do the Right Thing – Speak Up

A culture of integrity and respect is built by each of us every day. It’s about doing the right thing – and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. Why speak up? It helps make UMass Memorial the best place to give care, and the best place for our patients to get care.

Your voice matters whenever you suspect violations of our values, policies or Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. With EthicsPoint, our system-wide confidential reporting system hosted by NAVEX, you can safely call or file a confidential or anonymous report 24/7 – whenever it’s convenient for you. When you need somewhere to turn, EthicsPoint is easy-to-use and always available.

Need advice to make sure that you are doing the right thing? You can use EthicsPoint for that, too.

Your Voice Matters

Each of us has a personal obligation to report anything that seems to be in conflict with the Code, applicable laws, or UMass Memorial policies and procedures. In many cases, your supervisor or manager is the best person to start with. If this isn’t practical – or you would rather share information with someone else – you may report your observations to a director, senior leader, Chief Compliance Officer, HR representative or EthicsPoint, a third-party ethics and compliance reporting system.

Using EthicsPoint is an ideal way to raise ethical concerns, seek guidance related to the requirements of the Code, policies or procedures, or when you need help figuring out the right thing to do. For example, you can report concerns related to compliance, privacy, HR or information security – as well as events such as lost or stolen devices, potential data breaches and more.

The information you provide to EthicsPoint will be sent to UMass Memorial on a confidential basis and you may elect to remain anonymous. You will receive an initial response to your report within 5 to 6 business days.

Remember, your voice matters. When you speak up, you’re doing your part to make UMass Memorial the best place to give care, and the best place for our patients to get care.
