Our Commitment

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is an anti-racist organization, actively striving toward inclusion and belonging for all. EdTA is dedicated to providing a safe and productive experience at all sponsored events for all participants. EdTA does not tolerate discrimination or any form of unlawful harassment or abusive conduct, including but not limited to bullying, hazing, and harassment.

The purpose of the EdTA Code of Conduct is to provide clarity regarding unacceptable conduct and, in the event of accusations of misconduct in connection with EdTA events, direction on procedures that shall be followed. EdTA is committed to enforcing this Code of Conduct at national, chapter, and local activities.

EdTA is committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. We want program participants to feel comfortable approaching EdTA staff, volunteers, and board members in instances where you believe violations of policies or standards have occurred. Additionally, we want EdTA staff to feel comfortable reporting violations of policies and standards of professional conduct.

The policies and procedures apply to situations that meet all of the following:

  • The alleged incident occurred during an EdTA-sponsored activity, including events, programs, meetings, or related activity, including electronic and in-person communications.
  • The accused is acting in their capacity on behalf of the EdTA (employee, volunteer, participant, delegate, etc) at the time of the incident(s.)
  • The alleged victim is acting in their capacity as a participant of an EdTA activity.
