Carnegie Mellon University Confidential Ethics Reporting Hotline

Carnegie Mellon University is committed to an environment where open, honest communication is the expectation, not the exception. As a member of the university community, you are responsible for reporting unethical, discriminatory or illegal behavior and violations of university policy through your supervisor or other appropriate university officials. In situations where individuals are not comfortable reporting through standard channels and/or prefer to report anonymously, they should use the CMU Confidential Ethics Reporting Hotline. Per university policy, individuals who make a good faith report of a suspected violation will not be reprimanded or retaliated against in any way.

CMU has partnered with NAVEX EthicsPoint to administer our ethics hotline across all locations. The information provided to EthicsPoint will be sent to university representatives. Your concerns will be heard. See the EthicsPoint FAQs [pdf] for more information.

You may use either of the following methods:

You will be asked to select a category when submitting your report; choose whichever category you feel best matches your concern, even if it is not an exact match. Be assured that we will review your report and ensure that it is assigned appropriately.

After you complete your report, you will be assigned a unique code called a "report key" and a password. Write down your report key and password and keep them in a safe place. After 5-6 business days, you can use your report key and password to check your report for feedback or questions.
