Our Commitment

Southern Methodist University is an organization with strong values of responsibility and integrity. Our Code of Ethics contains general guidelines for conducting business with the highest standards of ethics.

SMU is committed to an environment where open, honest communications are the expectation, not the exception. The Code of Ethics articulates ethical standards, principles and policies which all members of the University community are expected to uphold by incorporating these values into their daily University actions and activities.

Report Your Concerns

Your input is valuable, and you are encouraged to speak up and report your concerns. We want you to feel comfortable in approaching your supervisor, department chair, dean, or other administrator in instances where you believe misconduct or violations of policies or standards have occurred in the workplace.

In situations where you prefer to report anonymously, we encourage you to use this hotline, hosted by EthicsPoint, a third-party provider. The information you provide will be sent to SMU by EthicsPoint on a totally confidential and anonymous basis if you should choose. You have our guarantee that your comments will be heard and handled promptly and judiciously. Please see the EthicsPoint FAQs for additional information.
