Seven Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who administers this website?

EthicsPoint is an independent third-party reporting platform run by NAVEX, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can accommodate calls in more than 75 languages.

2. I am not sure if what I have observed or heard is a violation of IRC policy, or involves unethical conduct, but it just does not look right to me. What should I do?

File a report. It is better you report a situation that turns out to be harmless than let possible wrongdoing go unchecked.

3. What is IRC’s stance on retaliation?

The IRC will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, reports a concern or cooperates in an investigation, even if the allegation is not substantiated. If you feel that you or any of your colleagues are being retaliated against, report it immediately.

4. How else can I report wrongdoing?

The IRC encourages you to speak up to the channel you are most comfortable with. In addition to using this website or telephone hotline, you can email integrity@rescue.org or speak to your Country Director/Executive Director, Regional Vice President/Regional Director, Deputy Director of Operations or Deputy Director of Programs, Safeguarding Lead, Manager, Ethics and Compliance Unit (ECU), Global Employee Relations, local People and Culture team, Legal (OGC), or another trusted leader.

5. Are reports secure and confidential?

The IRC uses NAVEX's EthicsPoint case management application to support the administration of Report Wrongdoing. EthicsPoint is hosted on NAVEX's secure servers and is not part of IRC’s website or Intranet. Any report you make will be kept confidential to the fullest extent possible consistent with law and good business practices. Telephone hotline reports have the same security and confidentiality measures applied to them as reports submitted through the website.

6. What happens after I report a wrongdoing?

Once you submit a concern via phone or web, you will receive a report key and password which can be used to follow up on your submission. Then the report is sent to IRC’s Ethics and Compliance team for review and to determine further action including whether ECU or Global Employee Relations will handle the investigation. Cases are handled at global level or at local level with global support based on the type of case and risk. If you have a concern about confidentiality, safety or who follows up on your case, you will be able to flag this in the report so that ECU and Global Employee Relations are aware.

7. Is there anything I need to do after making a report?

Upon making a report you will be given a report key. Write this down and save it for your records. You will need your report key and the password you selected to check on your report in the future or to make a follow up. It is probable we will have follow up questions and this is the only way we can communicate with you. We ask that you log in to check the status of the report to see if we have sent you a message.
