Why does New York Life have a hotline?
I want to report a concern about Ausbil, Seguros Monterrey, or Tristan. Am I in the right place?
May I report using either the Internet or the phone?
Does management really want me to report?
Can I file a report from home and remain anonymous?
Where do these reports go? Who can access them?
What if my boss or other managers are involved in a violation? Won't they get the report?
Does the Ethics Hotline replace the anonymous hotline number to the Office of the Secretary?
The ethics hotline is a phone- and web-based communications tool that offers New York Life employees and agents a confidential way to report violations of our Code of Conduct, as well as suspected illegal or unethical activities. All reports will be taken seriously. Telephone and web reporters may remain anonymous if they choose.
New York Life is committed to the highest standards of integrity. Introduction of an ethics hotline is another tool to help us achieve this goal
Yes. Ausbil, Seguros Monterrey, and Tristan are affiliates of New York Life. If you report your concerns through the New York Life Ethics Hotline, your report will be reviewed and addressed by the appropriate entity.
EthicsPoint is an independent company that provides a comprehensive and anonymous Internet-and phone-based tool for reporting fraud, misconduct, and other unethical activities in the workplace
Yes, you may. By giving you choices, EthicsPoint helps ensure that employees and agents can file in the manner most comfortable and convenient for them.
Absolutely. In fact we need you to report. You may have initial knowledge of an activity that may be a cause for concern. Your reporting can minimize the potential negative impact on New York Life and its reputation.
Although your work computer will log that you have visited the EthicsPoint website, it will not log or maintain the information that you enter onto that web site
A report from home or from any Internet portal will remain secure. An Internet portal never identifies a visitor by screen name and the EthicsPoint system strips away Internet addresses so that anonymity can be maintained. Plus, EthicsPoint is contractually committed not to pursue a reporter's identity.
If you're not sure, you may wish to speak with your manager, Zone Agency Standards Officer or the Business Conduct & Ethics Officer. Or you can file a report on an anonymous basis if you prefer. We would rather you report a situation that turns out to be harmless than let possible unethical behavior go unchecked because you were unsure.
Reports are entered directly on the EthicsPoint secure server to prevent any possible breach in security. EthicsPoint makes these reports available only to specific individuals within New York Life who are charged with evaluating the situation you reported. Each of these report recipients has had training in keeping these reports in strictest confidence. Report recipients will not know the identity of an anonymous reporter. The EthicsPoint staff are trained and committed to ensure that no report is ever shared with implicated parties, their peers or subordinates
The EthicsPoint system and report distribution are designed so that no report is ever shared with implicated parties, their peers or subordinates. If a Department Head is implicated, the report is available to the Executive Management Committee member responsible for oversight of that department. This will help to eliminate cover-ups by any implicated individual.
When you file a report at the EthicsPoint website or via the toll-free number, you receive a unique user name and are asked to choose a password. Using these tools, you can return to the EthicsPoint system again either by Internet or by telephone, and access the original report to add further information, answer questions or respond to requests for additional details from a report recipient. If you file a report under your own name at the website or by the toll-free phone number, you will be contacted directly for more information by a report recipient.
All EthicsPoint follow-up reports are held in the same strict confidence as the initial report, and reside on the same secure server.
Yes. Accounting concerns could previously be submitted on a confidential and/or anonymous basis to the Audit Committee. They may now be submitted through the Ethics Hotline via telephone or through the web.
