The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Professional Standards and Business Conduct Hotline

To Make a Report

The Archdiocese has selected EthicsPoint to provide you with a way to anonymously and confidentially report actual or possible violations of financial policies. You may file a report on this site or contact EthicsPoint by dialing the toll-free number 1-844-840-6662. All inquiries will be handled promptly and discreetly. You have the right to remain anonymous, and confidentiality will be maintained insofar as is possible.

The EthicsPoint Hotline should not be used to report concerns related to Child and Youth Protection and School Safety issues. Anyone who suspects child abuse should immediately call ChildLine toll free at 1-800-932-0313. Mandatory Reporters must make this call. Anyone who suspects Church Personnel of child abuse should also call the Office of Investigations at 1-888-930-9010. Anyone who suspects Church Personnel of violating the Standards of Ministerial Behavior & Boundaries should also call the Office of Investigations. To report issues related to school safety, please contact the school’s principal.

No individual who, in good faith, reports unethical and improper behavior related to this policy, shall be subject to retaliation or, in the case of an employee, adverse employment action as a result of making such a report.

A Letter From Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez:

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in its operations. In the spring of 2018, the Archdiocese established a Professional Standards and Business Conduct Policy to supplement existing policies and procedures. That policy guides all clergy, religious, seminarians, pastoral ministers, administrators, lay employees, board members, and volunteers of the Archdiocese as well as its related parishes, schools, and institutions.

I consider it an obligation of all Church personnel to report all forms of unethical and improper behavior, whether related to financial reporting, misappropriation of assets, conflicts of interest, or other employee matters. Normally, individuals would report such concerns to their supervisors.

However, situations may arise where it is not possible to make a report in that manner or circumstances might make people reluctant to do so. Accordingly, the Archdiocese works in conjunction with EthicsPoint, a third party vendor providing services to several dioceses throughout the country. On our behalf, they operate a hotline and web-based portal that Church personnel can use to make reports.

EthicsPoint provides a confidential method of reporting suspected financial misconduct, and other specified policy violations (excluding alleged sexual abuse violations, which should be reported to law enforcement).

Our ongoing collaboration with EthicsPoint furthers our commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in our operations and reminds us of our special degree of accountability as faithful servants of the Church.

Reports may be filed with EthicsPoint via the Internet or via one of EthicsPoint’s trained specialists at 1-844-840-6662.

Thank you for your dedicated and generous service to God and His people. May the Lord bless you abundantly.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez

Archbishop of Philadelphia
