Speak Up! For Safety at General Motors

All GM salaried and hourly employees as well as contract workers play an important role in helping to cultivate a culture of unwavering commitment to and focus on vehicle and workplace safety. In keeping with GM's values and its mission to continuously improve vehicle and workplace safety, the company has established a Speak Up for Safety initiative.

Employees can self-identify, or remain anonymous, and report vehicle and workplace safety issues using this Speak Up for Safety online submission form. If you have access to GM’s Socrates intranet, you can get more information about Speak Up for Safety and alternate methods for filing a report by clicking on the Speak Up for Safety link on Socrates under “Global Quicklinks”.

While Speak Up for Safety is one method for identifying and addressing safety-related issues inside GM and with its products and services, it is not intended to replace established processes for addressing workplace safety issues in our plants, offices and other facilities. It is important that employees who have workplace safety concerns first contact the appropriate officials within their facilities, offices and operations.

As a reminder, employees should use the existing GM Awareline when submitting the following types of information:

Concerns of possible criminal wrongdoing by the company, its management, employees or agents.

Actions believed to be contrary to GM Corporate Policy (e.g. actions believed to be inconsistent with General Motors' guidelines for employee conduct found in "Winning With Integrity").

If you have access to the GM intranet, you can get more information about the GM Awareline and alternate methods for filing a report (including phone and e-mail) by clicking on the GM Awareline link on Socrates under “Global Quicklinks.”

General Motors will not tolerate retaliation in any form against an employee who reports a problem or concern in good faith. Those who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Users with access to Socrates can click here to review a copy of the Non-Retaliation Policy.
