- Is my report confidential? And what are my privacy rights?
Your privacy and confidentiality are important to EthicsPoint and Goodyear. Anonymity and honesty are integral to the integrity of the Integrity Hotline. That is why Goodyear has chosen to contract EthicsPoint, a separate company, to run the Integrity Hotline. In fact, EthicsPoint is contractually committed not to pursue a reporter’s identity and it has designed its system to protect your anonymity. Whether you report over the phone, or online at home, at work or anywhere else, EthicsPoint strips away all identifiable information such as IP addresses or screen names to ensure that a reporter’s identity remains anonymous. If you choose to submit a report, the only information that will be collected is information such as details about the specific issue, unless you choose to be identified in your report.
Some restrictions on anonymous reporting may apply in certain locations in the European Union as a result of local privacy laws. The Goodyear lawyer responsible for your business will know if applicable law prohibits anonymous reporting. Where anonymous reporting is prohibited by local law, you may make a report by contacting one of the resources described above.
- What are the consequences of filing a report; is there protection against retaliation?
Goodyear prohibits any form of retaliation against individuals who in good faith report known or suspected violations of policy or law. In addition, individuals who participate and cooperate honestly and completely in an investigation are protected against retaliation. If you believe you have been retaliated against for making a report, or believe someone else has been retaliated against, report it immediately using the same reporting procedures previously outlined.
- What happens if my report is mistaken and I file a false report?
If a report turns out to be unsubstantiated, mistaken or if there is not enough information to confirm a report of misconduct, and it is filed in good faith, there will be no retaliation for filing a report or participating honestly or completely in a review or investigation. Making a report however, does not protect an individual from discipline for their own misconduct or wrongdoing.
